Before you go back, write to us
Almost always the problem is not the version of the app: it is a missing permission, a phone setting, or a step skipped while connecting to the bike. Before you uninstall KF Mirror, write in the Telegram group and tell us what happens: we will tell you whether going back is worth it or whether there is a simpler way.
Going back to an older version is the last thing to try, not the first.

You need it if something stopped working after an update, and if you and the support have already ruled out the other causes. If the app you have now works for you, leave it alone: changing version is a risk you have no reason to take.

Follow the order exactly as it is: it keeps you from ending up halfway through with neither the app nor this page.

Write down the number of the version you are using now.
You find it on the app's main screen, in green under the title. You need it to know where you are coming down from.

From this page, tap "Download" on the version you need.
When the phone asks whether to open the file, say no. For now it just has to stay in your Downloads.

Now uninstall KF Mirror from the phone.
You cannot skip this step: Android refuses to install an older version over a newer one.

Open the file you downloaded and install it.
You find it again in the phone's Downloads. If it asks for permission to install apps from this source, give it.
The first time you open the app you have just installed, you have to give again all the permissions it asks for and connect the bike display again, as you did at the beginning.
From then on the app will keep telling you that a newer version is out. That is normal: tap the button that puts the update off and nothing happens.
What you lose by going back
An older version does not have what was added afterwards, and it takes back the defects that had been fixed in the meantime. If you go down three versions, you take back everything that was fixed in those three.
Below, for every version, you find what was fixed and what was added: read the notes before you choose.
If you have to go back, go down as little as possible: try the version right before yours, not the oldest one in the list.

⭐️ NEW FEATURES No new features available. 🚧 BUG FIXES 1) On some types of phone the bike display still stays completely black. The problem is not fixed in this version: what has been updated is the app's internal diagnostics, which now look into what happens, in detail, while it happens. If it happens to you, try for a minute on the bike and send "Send diagnostics" from the ☰ menu: that is what it takes to find the cause. 2) When the display is black, the app no longer gives you a wrong explanation: it used to say "you are sharing a single app" even to people who had chosen the whole screen, and it sent you looking for the wrong thing. 3) On some phones the connection to the bike display keeps dropping and starting over. Here too the problem is not fixed: the internal diagnostics have been updated, and now record every drop and the conditions it happened in. If it happens to you, send the diagnostics. *(Versions 1.12.1 and 1.12.2 never left the test phone: this one includes them both.)*

Bug fixes or compatibility None: nothing was fixed in this version. New features 1) You can now go back to an earlier version of the app. If something stopped working on your phone after an update, you no longer have to wait: the ☰ menu now has an "Earlier versions" entry that takes you to a page on the website with all the versions still available, and step-by-step instructions for installing one. Those versions were there before, but only as a list of files, with nothing said about how to use them. 2) The update notice now also shows which version you have right now, in large type, and invites you to write it down. It is a number you cannot get back after updating, and that is exactly what it is for: knowing which version to return to if something then goes wrong. 3) "Later" now lasts a week. Before, the new-version notice came back every time you opened the app until you updated. If another version comes out in the meantime, the notice comes back straight away: that is different news.

Fixes 1) On some phones the five taps did not turn the screen back on after using "Dark screen": it stayed black, and the only way out was the "Turn the screen back on" button in the notification, or switching the phone off and on again. The taps work now. 2) In some cases, when you stopped the mirroring, the phone could stay black and no longer respond to touch, and the only way to get it back was to switch it off and on again. That does not happen any more: even if something goes wrong, the screen goes back to normal.

Improvements 1) Turning the screen back on after "Dark screen" now takes five quick taps instead of three, and you have two and a half seconds to make them instead of one and a half. The reason: with three taps the phone turned itself back on in your pocket. It was measured during a simulated ride, with the bike's vibrations — the screen came back on every 39 seconds on average, because the fabric of the pocket touches the glass and the app cannot tell those touches from yours. Every time it happens the battery drains and the fabric's fingers reach the app you are using. With five taps the pocket manages it far more rarely. The window was widened on purpose along with the number, so the gesture stays as easy for you as before: five taps in a second and a half would have been too fast to get right in the dark and with gloves on. In the "Dark screen" box the number is now written large, inside a green panel: it is the thing you need to remember before you put the phone away.

Fixes 1) If you have Android 11 or older, the app told you the bike display would show up in the list on its own and that you did not need to pair it. On those phones that is not true: the display has to be paired from the Bluetooth settings first, and that was the only route that worked. The app now explains it properly. 2) When the mirroring stopped by itself, the app always said the screen had turned off, even when that had nothing to do with it. Now it looks at what really happened: if you were sharing a single app and you closed it, it tells you; if it cannot work it out, it does not make it up. 3) If you tap "Start mirroring" and the confirmation the phone asks for never arrives, the app now tells you. Before, nothing happened and there was no way to know why the bike display stayed dark. 4) When the phone is not on the bike's WiFi network yet, the app now tells the two situations apart. If you are attached to another WiFi network — in the garage, at home — it asks you straight away to choose the bike's one, because the phone will not switch by itself. If you are out on the road, it tells you to wait: the phone connects on its own, and only if a minute goes by without that happening does it ask you to do it by hand. 5) Several messages said things the app does not do: that "Dark screen" switches the phone off (it takes the brightness down to zero, the phone stays on), that Bluetooth stays off when no bike is picked, and that the connections had been rebuilt when they had not. They now say what really happens. 6) A few English and Spanish texts were fixed: two ungrammatical sentences, a word that in Spanish read as "instrument panel" instead of "ignition", and some messages that sent you looking for a button under a name different from the one written on it.

Fixes 1) On some phones, the moment you lifted your finger off the slider that fits the picture to the bike display, the picture shrank and ended up in the top left corner, and the only cure was to stop the mirroring and start it again. Now the picture stays where you put it: move the slider, look at the bike display, and what you see is already the final result. 2) To turn the phone screen back on after blanking it you now tap it three times in a row, quickly, instead of twice. With two taps the screen sometimes came back on by itself while the phone was in your pocket. Improvements 1) If the bike display stays black, the app now tells you why. When you start the mirroring, some phones ask whether to share the whole screen or a single app. If you choose a single app, the bike display shows only that app, and only while it is open on the phone: as soon as you switch to something else, the bike display goes black. Now the app explains it and tells you what to do.

Fixes The double tap that turns the screen back on now really works. Before it had to be done in a flash and on the exact same spot: a glove, or a finger sliding a millimetre, and it wouldn't catch. Two normal taps, one after the other, are now enough. When you haven't chosen your bike yet, the "Your bike" box now says so. Before it already showed a name and looked done when it wasn't. If you tap a device that isn't the bike display by mistake — headphones, an intercom — the app tells you instead of accepting it. The bike display is always called CQKY. Improvements The app version can be read on the main screen, under the title: before it was hidden in the menu.

Improvements The instructions for putting the display in full screen now cover the 800X Rally 2025 as well. Fixes With mirroring on, the phone could seem frozen: it responded to no touch at all, and the only way to get it back was to stop the mirroring from the notification shade. It now works normally. If you are not connected to the bike's WiFi network, the app now tells you so. Before it asked you to put the display in full screen, and you could keep trying for a long time with no result. "Send diagnostics" still explained how to send it by hand from Telegram: it has been going off on its own for a few versions, and now the text says so. Several of the app's messages contained counters and technical words. They now say what is happening and what you can do.

Improvements «Send diagnostics» now sends the file with a single tap. Before, you had to pick an app, find the chat and attach it: now it goes off on its own and reaches the developer directly, carrying more information about what is going wrong. At the end the app shows you your display's serial number: write it in the Telegram group, so whoever helps you finds your report straight away. Fixes On phones running Android 11 or earlier the app said the bike display would appear in the list by itself. It does not: on those versions it has to be paired from the phone's Bluetooth settings first. The app now explains it properly.

Fixes It could happen that the app saved a Bluetooth device other than the one you had tapped in the list — the intercom instead of the bike's display, for example. Now only the one you choose stays saved. If you closed the app while mirroring was on, on reopening it you found a notice blaming the phone. That wasn't true: the notice now explains that mirroring stopped because you closed the app, and how to pick it up again.

Fixes If the bike's WiFi dropped, the app reported that the display had left full screen and asked you to hold down the arrow on the handlebar. The gesture was pointless: the problem was the network. The app now tells the two cases apart and reports the right one. When the bike was recognised automatically, the display serial stayed hidden until you left the app and came back. It now appears straight away. Improvements If the phone goes back to your home WiFi, the warning now also explains how to fix it at once: just select the bike's network again from the WiFi settings, without waiting for the other signal to weaken.

New If you ride with the map on the bike display, the phone stays lit for the whole trip: it drains, it heats up, and in your pocket it taps itself, opening and closing apps on its own. And you cannot turn it off with the power button, because that stops the mirroring. From this version, as soon as the map appears on the bike display, a small green button pops up on top of every other app, carrying the KOVE FORUM pistons and a moon. You can see it while you are inside Google Maps too. You tap it and your phone screen goes black: the bike keeps receiving exactly as before, and you can put the phone away. To turn the screen back on, two taps are enough.

Six defects found by a code review, each one verified by someone who hadn't found it. Fixes If the connection to the bike didn't start on the first try, the app never tried again. When Bluetooth wasn't usable at the exact moment of starting — off, or just restarted by the system — the first attempt failed and no other one was queued. Yet the screen kept saying "the bike isn't answering, switch the ignition on and get closer: I'm retrying on my own", and it wasn't retrying at all: you could wait the whole ride for nothing. It was a false promise at the worst moment. Retries now always start. From "Start mirroring" the screen permission still led into the dead end. The "Permissions and requirements" page was fixed in 1.6.7, but there was a second route to the same permission — the dialog that appears when you press Start — and it had been left behind. Anyone going that way, on Android 15 or 16, ended up on the switch that won't turn on, with nothing having warned them. That button now opens the permissions page, which already knows the right route. "Other apps will be left without Internet" appeared even miles away from the bike. Any WiFi without Internet was enough — a café with a login page still to fill in, or your home router with the line down — and opening the app produced a dialog advising you to delete the bike's network. The warning now only appears if you really are connected to the bike. From the app in English or Spanish, the "Full guide" button opened an Italian page. The guide now opens in the language you're using the app in. On the English site, numbers were written the Italian way. The app size came out as "5,1 MB", which in English is written "5.1 MB" and read that way looks like a typo. The same applied to amounts on the thank-you page. Spanish was already right, because it writes numbers as we do. In the admin area the payments alert wrote "pagamentoi" when there was more than one.

Improvements The "screen always on" permission now unblocks from a single screen. The route was timed on the phone, trying both ways: the button now goes straight to the KF Mirror app page, which holds both the permission row and the menu that lifts the block. Before, you landed in the list of every app on the phone — seven seconds of alphabetical scrolling to find yourself — and then had to leave the app and long-press the icon on the home screen to reach the menu. Ten taps instead of sixteen, and no trick to know. The text warns you about what is coming. When you try to turn the switch on, Android answers with a stern warning about denied access and risks to your financial information. It isn't an error — it's the very step that opens the way — but seeing it unprepared is frightening. The app now announces it in advance, and says that right afterwards the phone will ask for your fingerprint. It also explains what the permission is actually for: keeping the screen awake while you mirror, and nothing else. Fixes The explanation now reaches the people who need it. In 1.6.6 nobody saw it: the app tried to work out on its own whether Android was blocking, and always answered no — even with the block active and proven. That guesswork is gone. The Android version decides now: from Android 15 up the procedure is shown, below it isn't, because below it the block doesn't exist. Removed the line about blocked permissions from the technical report, which carried that same wrong value. A diagnosis line that lies is worse than one that's missing. On the website, the "Your phone" page follows the same four steps.

Improvements Unblocking "screen always on" is now explained step by step, and the button goes to the right place. Testing 1.6.5 revealed that the more-options button — the one that lifts Android's block — isn't there until you have tried to turn the switch on at least once. Version 1.6.5 took you straight to the app info page, where that button hadn't appeared yet: a dead end. Now the button takes you back to the switch, and the text warns you beforehand that it won't turn on the first time, that this is normal, and what to do next. Four numbered steps, each saying which screen it starts from. Fixes The four steps no longer show up for people who don't need them. That block only exists from Android 15 onwards: on Android 8 to 14 the switch simply turns on. The app could previously show the procedure to someone with no block at all, sending them to hunt for a button that doesn't exist on their phone. The sentence about stores is gone. It said the permission was shut "because the app doesn't come from a store": true, but it made people suspect something shady at the worst possible moment. It now says what it really is — a precaution Android takes — without alarming anyone. Anyone still stuck isn't left alone. In the short text too, if the switch won't respond, the app says to write in the Telegram group: brands don't all name things the same way, and there is someone there who answers. The technical report now shows whether Android is keeping permissions shut, so a diagnosis reads at a glance instead of looking like carelessness on the part of whoever sent it. On the website, the "Your phone" page follows the same four steps.

Improvements If Android won't let you grant the "keep the screen on" permission, the app now explains why. It happens to anyone who installs the app by downloading it from the website instead of getting it from a store: Android blocks that permission and the switch won't turn on, without saying why. "Permissions and requirements" now tells you what to do, and the button takes you straight to the screen where you unblock it. The ☰ menu is now the same on both screens: from the permissions page too you can reach the Telegram group and change the language. And the logo there was still the old one: now it's the new one, same as the main screen. Fixes Closing the app by swiping it away from the recent apps could show "your phone closed the app by itself" the next time you opened it — a wrong explanation of something you had just done yourself. Now, when Android itself says it was you, the app stays quiet.

What's new The app now speaks English and Spanish too. In the ☰ menu there's a new entry — "🇬🇧 Language: English": tap it, pick a language, and the app switches instantly — screens, notifications, permissions and the technical log. If you don't touch anything, the app follows your phone's language; if your phone is set to a language we don't have, it stays in Italian. The download page, the version notes and even the PayPal screen follow your language as well. The "Send diagnostics" file stays in Italian whatever you choose: it goes to the app's developer, who needs to be able to read it.

Migliorie Gli importi del contributo si scrivono adesso con il simbolo davanti — €1 · €3 · €5 · €10 — e non vanno più a capo quando il carattere del telefono è ingrandito: prima l'ultimo si spezzava in due righe e la fila si disallineava. Il seriale del display è più facile da centrare col dito: prima la riga da toccare era alta poco più di mezzo dito, adesso è alta come tutti gli altri comandi dell'app. Il testo non si è mosso, è cresciuta solo l'area che raccoglie il tocco. Il resoconto tecnico adesso scrive quale schermata si apre premendo «Come si sistema», e dice anche quando non è riuscito ad aprirne nessuna e ha ripiegato sulla scheda dell'app. Prima, in quel caso, non scriveva niente: chi segnalava «mi ha aperto una cosa che non c'entra» non aveva modo di farlo capire.

Correzioni Tredici ritocchi, nessuno grosso. Sono raggruppati per dove si vedono, così se qualcosa non torna si sa dove guardare. Nel riquadro della moto. Con il permesso Bluetooth negato restava a schermo il menù «Scegli il display della tua moto» con dentro una sola voce, che era il messaggio d'errore: toccarla non faceva niente. Adesso quel riquadro sparisce, come già faceva col Bluetooth spento. Nell'avviso giallo. Arrivando a casa — il telefono torna sul WiFi di casa e tu spegni il quadro — comparivano due spiegazioni opposte nello stesso momento: la riga del WiFi diceva di accendere il quadro, e sopra lampeggiava «appena ti allontani smette da solo». Adesso parla una sola voce, quella giusta. Nella finestra «le altre app sono senza Internet». Dopo aver rimediato — eliminata la rete della moto e ricollegato — la finestra poteva ricomparire per un guasto che non c'era più. Adesso l'app guarda com'è messa la rete davvero, invece di ricordarsi com'era. Nel resoconto tecnico. L'avviso su come rispondere alla domanda del telefono si ripeteva a ogni ricollegamento invece che una volta per sessione, e con il WiFi di casa che se lo riprende poteva uscire parecchie volte. E la riga in cui il display risponde diceva «ha accettato l'accoppiamento», una parola che nel resto dell'app non compare mai e che si confondeva con l'abbinamento Bluetooth: adesso dice che il display è pronto per il mirroring. Fermando e riavviando. Se l'invio dello schermo moriva da solo e tu toccavi «Avvia» in quei due secondi, lo spegnimento vecchio poteva portarsi via la sessione appena nata — si leggeva «avviato» e subito dopo «fermato», senza nessun errore. Adesso uno spegnimento riguarda solo la sessione per cui era partito. Sul sito. Dopo il pagamento la pagina diceva «si sblocca da sola»: vero solo riaprendo l'app, non se ce l'hai già davanti. Adesso lo dice. E nella pagina «Registro» dell'area amministrativa spariva un rimando a una query che non esisteva. Il resto sono commenti e testi interni che descrivevano cose non più vere.

Correzioni Il seriale del display e quello che si copiava toccandolo potevano essere due codici diversi: dopo «Cambia moto» restava scritto quello di prima, ma negli appunti finiva quello nuovo. Adesso cambiano insieme, e alla prima scelta compare subito invece che solo riaprendo la schermata. L'app poteva salvarsi da sola il dispositivo sbagliato — le cuffie, l'interfono — se la moto spariva per un momento dai dispositivi abbinati del telefono: succede riabbinandola, visto che al primo tentativo l'abbinamento quasi mai riesce. Da lì in poi il seriale cambiava e il contributo già dato non veniva più riconosciuto. Chi ha un display che non si chiama «CQKY» leggeva «Prima abbina la moto qui sopra» anche con la moto già abbinata e scelta, mentre la riga sopra diceva giustamente il contrario. Fermando il mirroring, o quando cadeva la rete della moto, nel resoconto compariva «il display è uscito dallo schermo intero: tieni premuta la freccia». Mandava a premere un tasto sul manubrio per un guasto che era da un'altra parte, o addirittura per un mirroring appena fermato apposta. Se l'app era caduta una volta a mirroring spento, la volta dopo che il telefono la chiudeva da solo durante un viaggio non veniva detto niente: l'avviso «il telefono ha chiuso l'app da solo» e i passaggi per impedirlo restavano nascosti proprio la prima volta che servivano. Cambiando il display della moto — garanzia, o un'altra Kove — i sette giorni di prova della moto nuova non cominciavano mai, perché l'app credeva di averlo già detto al server per l'altra.

Correzioni Se durante il mirroring il Bluetooth si spegneva anche solo per un istante — succede che il telefono lo riavvii da solo, senza chiedere niente — l'app smetteva di cercare il display della moto per tutto il resto del viaggio. Restava scritto che la moto non risponde, e l'unico rimedio era fermarsi, toccare Ferma e riavviare il mirroring da capo. Adesso continua a riprovare da sola e riparte appena il Bluetooth torna. Migliorie Mentre l'app riprova a raggiungere il display, il resoconto tecnico non si riempie più di righe tutte uguali: lo scrive una volta e poi lo ricorda una volta al minuto. Così quando serve leggerlo per capire cos'è successo, c'è ancora tutto il resto.

Migliorie I pulsanti hanno un aspetto nuovo: contorno sottile tutt'attorno e uno spessore sotto e a destra, come se fossero sollevati dalla pagina. Premendoli scivolano in diagonale e lo spessore sparisce sotto di loro. Quello spento sta già nella posizione bassa, così si vede che non si può toccare senza doverlo provare.

I testi dell'app sono stati riletti da cima a fondo: una sessantina di frasi adesso dicono cosa fare, non solo cosa non ha funzionato. Due erano proprio sbagliate: sui Samsung un pulsante prometteva l'opposto di quello che apriva, e una notifica diceva di premere la freccia sul manubrio invece di tenerla premuta. I consigli per la marca del telefono adesso dicono in cima quando servono davvero. E il supporto non è più il forum: è il gruppo Telegram «Kove Forum Mirror».

L'app adesso si difende dai telefoni che chiudono le app da sole (Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, vivo e altri). In «Permessi e requisiti» trovi un consiglio su misura per la tua marca con il pulsante che apre la schermata giusta; e se il telefono uccide l'app durante il mirroring, alla riapertura l'app te lo dice e ti spiega come impedirlo.
